We have completed the mastering of the new CD and have sent it into production! The CD should be ready by the end of December and should be available on CDBaby by January. We will be updating the website in December with new images, song lyrics, and samples. Thanks again for hanging in there! jpark@micstimms.com October 18, 2007 – New CD Mastering of CD to be completed by October We are currently mastering the final mix of the songs that will go onto the new CD. We want to thank Ninth On Map in Knoxville, TN. for their assistance with the mastering effort. We are looking forward to getting this collection out as soon as possible. It has been a lot of fun putting these tracks together. Mastering will be coming soon! jpark@micstimms.com August 28, 2007 – New CD Mastering of CD to be completed by October We have finished one of the last two songs needed to complete the new CD and expect to go into mastering by October. The artwork for the CD is already underway and we are looking forward to wrapping this one up and getting it out to everyone. During the process, we have developed some ideas and concepts that we will be incorporating into future works. We expect to jump right into the next CD after the new year. We'll also be updating the website as soon as the new CD is released. jpark@micstimms.com July 4, 2007 – New CD New CD by Mic Stimms will be delayed We've missed our target date as anticipated but we are very close. We have completed 10 tracks of our 12 track set (the other two tracks should be put together by the end of this month. We are also adding a 13th "instrumental" tune - Synergy7 - to the collection. This collection was developed differently than the last one. We normally go through a process of building the song structure - percussion, rhythm, and vocals - and then we "tweak" the song as each musician comes into the studio to add their input. This approach can be faster since the overall structure is usually not changed. Our approach this year was to come into the studio with just a simple idea - a hook, a chord progression, a drum loop, etc. and present it to the group for direction and development. This has been an interesting exercise - each muscian brings their distinct style and concepts to the table, which increases the time to develop a final product. We are also being impacted by our professional careers, which has prevented us from dedicating the time we normally do in the studio. While our collection has been delayed this year, we are excited to see the ideas that have sprung up during this new process. We have also moved into a larger studio and have added more guitars and effects to our repertoire. We appreciate your feedback and patience as we complete this collection. We are making progress but this is something that we want to take our time on in order to make sure we are happy with the end product. Hang in there and we'll keep you up to date though our website. May 13, 2007 – CD Update New CD by Mic Stimms We've been working on the tracks and have completed several of them for final mastering. The process is slower this time around but we hope to get the master completed by next month. We'll keep you posted on our progress. April 20, 2007 – New CD "Across the Sky", the new CD by Mic Stimms We've finally got the list of tracks we are going to put on the new CD. We have titled the collection, "Across the Sky" and should be releasing the new collection sometime this summer. We have put several of the songs up on the site to give you a sampling of the collection. We're in the final stages of development now and will be in post production by June. January 20, 2007 – Happy Birthday Ryk!!! Ryk Allyn's birthday One of the members of Mic Stimms is celebrating their birthday today. Ryk Allyn is celebrating his birthday by jamming on a new axe that he recently purchased and upgraded. The new guitar will be featured in the new Stimms release due in July. "I Watch the Sky" will be on new CD Mic Stimms posted a new song on their website to let listeners hear what they can expect from the new CD. The song is titled, "I Watch the Sky" and will be included on the not yet titled CD, which is scheduled to release in mid 2007. "We talked about whether we wanted to release something so early but we felt that it would give the listeners a chance to experience the unfolding of this new collection as it is made.", said Jamie Park. New look for The Mic Stimms Forum The Mic Stimms Forum underwent a makeover recently changing the colors and style of the Forum. The Forum uses the popular PHPBB software used by many different websites. There are other enhancements planned for the Forum such as a chat feature that allows you to talk "live" to other users of the Forum. The Forum does not require users to register in order read posts or topics but it is necessary to register if you wish to post new topics, reply to topics or use other features such as participating in Polls, etc. Registration is easy. Click the Register icon at the top right portion of the screen. Accept the terms of the Forum, enter a user ID, email address, and a password. You will be sent a confirmation email that will allow you to activate your account. That's all there is to it! We look forward to seeing you in the Forum! August 28, 2006 – Mic Stimms back in studio. New CD underway Mic Stimms is going back into the studio to begin work on their next CD. “We took a hiatus over the summer and had some time to clear our heads and relax a bit”, said Jamie Park. We’ve been looking forward to sitting down as a team again and sharing ideas. This CD is going to be built on both guitar and keyboard foundations.” “We’ve have a collection of concepts that we had when we wrapped up ‘Shades of Grey’ as well as some new stuff that we developed over the summer”, said Ryk Allyn. “We also purchased some additional hardware that we will be using in this CD.” When asked if they had a name for the CD, the duo said it was too early in the process to label the disc. “We have a tradition of labeling our CDs after a song that we felt embodied the collection or its overall message”, said Jamie. “We really don’t know at this time what will go into the collection.” Ryk added, “It doesn’t mean that we will label this CD after a song in the collection. It’s got to work for us and feel right. And so far, that approach has worked for us.” The duo expects to have the album completed for a release in July 2007. July 13, 2006 – Mic Stimms New Release Shades of Grey now available Mic Stimms released their “Shades of Grey” CD today through CDBaby’s online distribution system. “We began working on the tracks last August and wanted to take our time and let he music happen”, said Ryk Allyn. “We went back to the basics with these tracks – writing most of the material on guitar and then lacing the loops and keys into the structure.” “About halfway through the tracks, we asked Clancy Gywnn to sit in and lay some bass lines down”, said Jamie Park. “Clancy worked with us on our ‘Drop the Gun’ CD. We have a long history of working together and he fit right in.” Mic Stimms stays true to their technique of implementing classic keyboards, powerful guitar riffs, modern techno and brooding lyrics to make a collection worth owning. The CD can be purchased directly from CDBaby at CDBaby.com June 26, 2006 – Mic Stimms website is now online. In anticipation of new CD release in July The Mic Stimms website officially went online today. Many of the features are still under development but will be up before the end of the summer. The site will feature biographies on Jamie Park and Ryk Allyn along with other contributors to the Mic Stimms sound. Discography information will be available with sound snippets and lyrics. A forum will also provide a means to communicate with members of the band and other fans. “We’re really pumped about this site. It’s a great way to increase our exposure to the listeners of our music and provide a method of interaction with them”, said Jamie Park. “The internet is a growing medium and it allows us to be accessible to a larger audience. Anybody who spends anytime surfing the internet can really see the power you have at your fingertips. It’s so dynamic and amazing!
